Having spent an equal duration of my life in India and in the US, I consider myself culturally sensitive and well equipped to help you with any challenges stemming from multi-cultural issues. I will communicate an awareness of your particular culture, traditions, values, beliefs, and practices and make sure you feel comfortable discussing personal issues with me.
- Maybe you are still struggling to adjust to your surroundings and people around you even months or years after you migrated.
- Maybe you are homesick, or grieving the loss of not being able to get around independently due to language or transportation issues.
- Maybe you feel others will see you as too traditional if you practice your religion or observe your respective holidays as you did back home.
- Maybe you are struggling in your relationships with your spouse, significant other, or extended family due to bi-cultural issues.
- Maybe you are a child of immigrant or minority parents and are struggling to find that balance of meeting your parents’ or community’s expectations of you while trying to belong to your peer group or society.
- Maybe you fear or have experienced oppression, racism, and marginalization and have a hard time trusting others.
- Maybe mental health issues such as anxiety or depression are considered a sign of weakness and you are expected to not talk about it openly. Do understand that mental health issues are quite common among minorities.
